So, I’ve only taken an actual interest in politics in the last 12 months, probably less than that. Only followed US politics at first, watching Trump as a candidate was interesting as he was a celebrity before a politician (if you can call him that). Slowly but surely, I started to make an effort with politics that would actually affect me, UK based.
Certainly in the past 6 months I’ve followed it and paid attention. And this is what I’ve been left with.
I’m absolutely gutted that Bernie Sanders not only lost, but today endorsed Hilary Clinton. He was open about her being a genuine criminal, and has now turned around to back her campaign. It’s so backwards that she became favourite, but I think it’s pretty spineless of Bernie to against what he stood for.
I’m pretty torn up about how Labour are treating JC. Love him or hate him, he was voted in by 60% of a vote, in a 4 way bid. That’s a huge majority. Yet within 10 months, they’re treating him like absolute scum, and completely ignoring how he brought in more supporters, brought light upon real topical issues, and completely ignoring the idea of democracy. They’re cutting their nose off to spite their face and it’s 100% at the expense of the Labour supporters, and they’re ignorance is just overwhelming.
I’m pissed off that this country is now going to be run by someone who’s only going to divide it more. By this, I’m only talking about the EU Ref. We as a nation voted to leave, personally I’m not happy about it but DEMOCRACY so gotta carry on. But every leave campaigner has just jumped off the leadership boat and the remain campaign have to hope for the best. They didn’t plan how it would turn out?
Also, the fundamental concept on being a good politician is knowing how to word an answer without admitting you’re wrong. How does that even work for people who aren’t in that line of work? That’s not what makes a good representation of any group of people, especially not an entire country who you make HUGE life changing decisions for?!
Politics is such a tricky subject to talk about, to get involved with, or even have an opinion about. But it’s just knocked me for six that everything just seems so deceptive. Everything about everything about politics is not welcoming in the slightest, and that’s what is defining about the population’s natural lack of interest.
